#NSNation – My Nutrisystem Weightloss Journey; Week 3

I am a little late on my update for week 3 of my Nutrisystem Weightloss Journey. I totally forgot to write it Friday and then yesterday we went to a party at a friends house.

This week I was supposed to do better, but things don’t always work out the way we plan. Monday and Tuesday I ended up sick with some sort of virus and spent most of the time sleeping or throwing up. It was very unpleasant. Needless to say, my diet didn’t go well those days and I was unable to exercise.

Wednesday, I was feeling a little bit better and was back to work, however, my appetite was not normal. Honestly, not much sounded good and what did sound good ~ wasn’t included in my Nutrisystem meals. So I strayed because I desperately needed something in my tummy. I still wasn’t up to exercising either, but did manage to get in a few daily 3 activities – so not all was lost.

Yesterday, I ate at the party and it was a cheat for sure. I had the best stuffed cheeseburger EVER! Provalogne cheese, sauteed mushrooms & onions, stuffed inside a good size lean burger….on a roll with mayo. It was delicious but definitely not diet-approved. I did refrain from eating the cookies for dessert, so that’s a plus. I also had a few drinks and they weren’t diet-friendly either. I feel bad about cheating, but I had a really great time with family & friends and that was something I greatly needed.

All-in-all, this week was horrible for diet and exercise. I’m not going to be too hard on myself though. I still haven’t had a regular coke in 3 weeks and have continued to drink the required amount of water. There’s 99% no sugar in my regular diet at all, which is also a big change. I’m still continuing to do better for myself and that is something I will remain proud of.  I ended up losing 0.5 lbs after being sick, but some how managed to gain back 2 lbs since Wednesday. This week, I’ll be back to my regular diet-food and exercising and hope to see better results at the next check-in.

I still don’t think my scale is working properly since it gives me a different weight each time I get on it. The good news? I just bought a NEW Scale on Amazon (click to see it’s cuteness) using gift cards I earned – making it FREE! It’s super cute and has good reviews, PLUS…it’s digital!! I should have it by this coming Wednesday and I’m super pumped about it!!

Things I’ve learned throughout week 3:

  • Cheating may taste good, but doesn’t help you reach your goal.
  • Being sick sucks.
  • Sticking to diet foods after recovering from a bug isn’t easy when nothing sounds good.
  • Seeing a gain after seeing a lose for so long is very discouraging, but at the same time more empowering to do better next week.

  • Tuna Salad
  • Double Chocolate Muffin
  • Mushroom Risotto
  • Chocolate Protein Shake
  • Ice Cream Sandwich

Weightloss Progress:

  • Starting Weight: 140 lbs.
  • Weightloss after 22 days: 4 lbs.
  • Current Weight (5/27/12): 136 lbs
  • Goal Weight: 115 lbs.

Again, I just want to add that my weight goal is approximate. I am really more concerned with where the fat comes off, as in losing the kangaroo pouch belly, and overall…being healthy.

#NSNation – My Nutrisystem Weightloss Journey; Week 1

Well, it’s been 5 days since I began my journey with Nutrisystem. We decided we would do updates every Friday to share how our week went. So since it’s Friday, I’m here to update you all on my progress!!

I have never been a girl who wanted to diet. I just enjoy food too much (see my announcement post for more details on that). Since I gained a lot of weight with my pregnancies over the years, it’s just not as easy as it used to be. A diet seemed to be necessary to get me back down to the weight I’d like to be. I also wanted to do Nutrisystem with my friend at The Christmas Fairy for support (as well as several other friends, including our very own Renee). I was stoked to hear I was accepted into their program and super excited to receive my food, so I could get started.

Then the food came and I was even more excited because it all looked SO good! I wanted to wait on TCF to get her food though, so we could begin together. When her box arrived, I decided I would start the next day. I wanted to be able to get to the store to pick up veggies and other allowed “extras” before I started. That night though, I started to panic a little bit.

I hadn’t really thought about it before (not REALLY thought about it, ya know?), but I wasn’t going to be able to have a regular Coca-Cola for 4 MONTHS! Those who know me well, know I love my cokes. I drank WAY too many of them in a days time. I made my husband run to the store, right then, and get me a coke so I could drink “just one more” before the big day. I also started to think about all the foods I was no longer going to be able to eat, haha. Funny thing is, just that morning I was having to keep myself from digging into the Nutrisystem items because they just looked tasty. My mind was trying to play tricks on me. Luckily, I have great friends and family that helped me relax a little and realize it really wouldn’t be hard with the strong support system I have and I would do well with this diet.

I woke up the next morning (Monday) and filled my bottle of water, made my protein shake, and picked out my breakfast. The day ended up going by really fast and easier than I thought it would be. There are a lot of foods that you can add-in that I didn’t realize would be acceptable. Cheese for instance (low-fat or fat free), nuts, whole wheat bread or crackers, fish, diet drinks, fresh veggies, and lots more which really helped me stay on track. I was extremely nervous about the required water intake as I normally do not drink water (horrible I know). I drank my 2 full required bottles with ease, and even managed to drink another half a bottle. Shocked? Me too! Even more shocking? I’ve been drinking 2 1/2 to 3 Nutrisystem bottles of water EACH day! Yay me!

I had a lot of cleaning to do that day (scrubbing floors/toilets/tubs, vacuuming, laundry, etc) and used those things as my “Daily 3” for my activity. I like that you can do normal things like housework, yardwork, dancing…and it’s deemed as an acceptable daily activity for your exercise. I don’t do well with having to exercise all the time either, which is why I was so pleased with the list of “Daily 3’s”. Tuesdays and Thursdays they suggest a workout video for strength training and things. So this week I chose a “Dance off the Inches” workout video on Netflix for Tuesday, and Thursday I did a Yoga Workout Video. How many of you have ever tried doing Yoga?? I was under the impression it would be relaxing and pretty easy to do. Boy was I WRONG! Oh. My. Goodness! Yoga is NOT easy! I can feel muscles I haven’t felt in 5 years! My entire body is feeling last nights yoga session, haha! Props to all you regular Yoga ladies!! You have my FULL respect!

Some of my favorite meals from this week:

  • Butter Flavored Popcorn
  • Chicken Salad
  • Asian-Style Beef
  • Garden Vegetable Omelet
  • Both the Strawberry & the Coffee Protein Shakes

Now I’m going to list a few of the things I learned this week. First and foremost, not drinking cokes has really not been a huge deal. Drinking the required amount of water is easiest for me to do with the supplied Nutrisystem Water Bottle, as I don’t feel like I’m really drinking “that much”. The Nutrisystem food is freakin’ fire! It’s great to have a support team when you are trying for any goal (especially a diet). I love using the website to keep track of my food/calorie intake and weightloss. And last but certainly not least, Yoga is hard-core (seriously, if you haven’t tried it – you should! H-A-R-D-C-O-R-E!).

  • Starting Weight: 140 lbs.
  • Weightloss after 5 days: 4.5 lbs.
  • Current Weight (5/11/12): 135.5 lbs
  • Goal Weight: 115 lbs.

I just want to add, my weight goal is approximate. I am really more concerned with where the fat comes off, as in losing the kangaroo pouch belly, and overall…being healthy.

Below you can see my before pictures. I wore a tight shirt for the purpose of showing a good before and after pic. I normally do not wear this shirt, as it’s not flattering on me right now. Hopefully by the end of my Nutrisystem Weightloss Journey, the shirt will fit like it’s supposed to and you’ll be able to see a side-by-side comparison of me in the same clothes. 🙂
