It’s no secret that you can save big at Walmart. Between their already low prices and their price matching policy, you can save some serious cash. Of course, you can also use coupons to further reduce the amount you spend.

Those of you who’ve price matched items at Walmart, know that you typically need to have the competitors ad in hand. The cashier then gives you the competitors price – saving you the hassle of going store to store. What if you didn’t have to do that though? What if Walmart did the price matching for you? No more digging through ads for the lowest price. No more driving to Walmart just to realize you forgot the ad on your kitchen counter. Now, all you have to do is shop as usual and then enter your receipt number into the Walmart Savings Catcher.

Once you’ve entered your receipt number (and date the transaction occurred), your work is done. They (Walmart) will then search though every competitor to see if any of the items you purchased are available for a lower price than what you paid. When lower prices are found, you get a refund for the difference. Example – you spend $100 on  Sony DVD player but Target has the same on on sale for $79. You’ll get a refund for the difference ($21)! It’s really THAT simple.

Something else to note is that the refund you receive is BEFORE coupons. Here’s an example…

Let’s say that Walmart has Coke 12 packs on sale for $4. You have a coupon for $1.50/1 Coke 12 pack. You’ll spend $2.50 at Walmart between the coupon and their sale. Let’s also say that Target is selling Coke 12 packs for $2.50 each. That $1.50 coupon would have made your out of pocket cost only $1 for a 12 pack. Not to fret though! The Walmart Savings Catcher app will refund you the $1.50 difference since Target had the Coke on sale for $1.50 less. In other words, it doesn’t matter what you pay out of pocket. What matters is that there was a lower price available at one of their competitors stores.

As far as the refund goes, it takes about 3 days for them to price match the items on your receipt. You’ll receive an email once they’re finished (see image below). Your refund will be added to your online Walmart Savings Catcher account. You can cash out at anytime. I’m letting my account balance build up so I can use it all at one time, to do some Holiday shopping.

I’ve been using the Savings Catcher since the beginning of July. My refunds have varied from a few cents to several dollars, with each transaction. It all adds up!

Here’s my current account balance. As you can see, I already have almost $11. Not too shabby! By the time the Holidays roll around (which will happen faster than i’d like to admit), I should have a nice chunk of change to do some shopping.

As with anything in life, there are some stipulations. Savings Catcher does not compare the following types of offers:

  • Items that require a separate purchase to get the advertised price (example: “Buy oatmeal to get cereal for $1.”)
  • Items with no actual price that require a purchase to get a free product (example: “Buy both oatmeal & cereal to get milk for free.”)
  • Items that require a purchase to get a gift card (example: “Buy a 12 pack of paper towels to get a $5 gift card.”)
  • Buy one get one free (BOGO) deals where no item price is listed (example: Peter Pan Peanut Butter, buy one, get one free. Save up to $2.50.”)
  • Going out of business or closeout prices.
  • Percentage off (example: “All mascara, 40% off.)

Please also note that you can only enter up to 7 receipts per week. Also, you must enter those receipts within 7 days.
